The creation of ANZCRO & Just New Zealand

A local New Zealand family migrate from Christchurch to the Gold Coast QLD Australia. They set up a small business selling travel to New Zealand.

After passing the licencing regulations that are able to set up a NZ Wholesale travel business. They establish the company named Australian New Zealand Central Reservations Office (ANZCRO).

1994

The ANZCRO is Bus born…

The New Zealand Product Manual is developed in an A4 ringbinder, and distributed to key local agents in Queensland and Northern NSW. A small number of products are included, accommodation, car and motorhomes hire.

ANZCRO travelled Australia promoting New Zealand in their uniquely branded bus. This was the beginning of the relationship building between ANZCRO and travel agents for NZ wholesale travel.

New Zealand travel brochure

1st New Zealand Book

The first New Zealand Book (brochure) is published for distribution to agents and the public. The 16 page, A5 size book had info and prices on car hire, campervan hire and accommodation throughout NZ.

It was one of the first brochures out to the public that specialised on only New Zealand as a holiday destination. Since then there has been an ANZCRO “NZ Book” released each year into the market place for travel agents and public to see. The current 2014 NZ book is over 100 pages with in-depth info of things to do and see within NZ.

New Zealand Ski

New Zealand Ski Brochure released

In 1996 ANZCRO release its first NZ Ski Brochure to travel agents and the public. Offering wholesale New Zealand ski product to travel agents around Australia. Adding further expertise as being a NZ wholesale travel specialist.

Then in 1997 a USA partnership is created – ANZCRO Pacifica, a small office in downtown Seattle is opened. This office sells travel to NZ, Australia and South Pacific and becomes South Pacific/Down Under experts for the US market.

Expansion begins

ANZCRO NZ office opened in Christchurch NZ, focusing on selling NZ travel and servicing the needs of all ANZCRO travellers when in NZ and having a contact person if needed. ANZCRO UK office opened in Cornwall England located 4 hours south of London. A second Australian office is opened in Perth Western Australia.

2003

New office on the Gold Coast

ANZCRO purchase a new premises as head office and rename the building ANZCRO House.  The team move into the new location at 6 Short Street Southport QLD which is still the current location of  head office for the company.

Ski Express New Zealand

Ski Express acquisition

ANZCRO purchase and re-launch the “Ski Express” brand within Australia and NZ to travel agents and the public, with its own Ski Brochure and the Ski Express ecommerce website.
A step in a new direction begins with the ability to sell direct to the public.  Offering retail ski products direct.

2011

Christchurch Earthquake

22 February 2011 12:51pm – Christchurch is shaken with its second and most destructive earthquake with a magnitude 6.3 and many aftershocks that followed killing 185 people. Thankfully no one in the Christchurch office was badly hurt during the earthquake although it was is a very significant period in NZ history. The Christchurch office was condemned.

Travel to NZ declined over the short-term and many NZ travel companies closed down as it was a difficult time for everyone involved. ANZCRO worked through those hard-times and were able to relocate to a new location in Queenstown later that year.

Just New Zealand Launch

“JustNZ” brand is launched by ANZCRO, it is a direct to public website selling coach tours, self-drive, walks, sightseeing and accommodation at affordable prices. Using ANZCRO product and specialised knowledge base, online savvy travellers have the ability to book a NZ holiday and get in touch with one of our local staff.

Just New Zealand gets a brand new website and is re-launched as www.justnztravel.com.au
